The transaction sees Haulaway join EverGrowth’s Environmental Services division, with the group acquiring the waste transfer station and skip hire operations.
As part of the deal, Haulaway’s recycling distribution facility was separated from the wider business and retained by the vendors.
The shareholders of Haulaway were advised by Affinia on the transaction.
Haulaway
Founded by the Holloway family in 1991, Haulaway began operating with two skip lorries and has since grown to serve customers across East Sussex and the wider South East.
The business provides a range of waste management and transport services, including skip hire, roll-on roll-off containers, tipper and grab hire, plant hire, bulk haulage and trade waste collections.
It serves customers across the construction, commercial and domestic sectors, supported by an established infrastructure and an experienced workforce.
Managing Director Colin Holloway said: “Haulaway has been a family business since 1991, and over that time we have built strong and lasting relationships with our customers, suppliers and employees.
“EverGrowth took the time to understand our business, how we operate and what has made Haulaway successful.
“Julie and I are pleased to be joining the group and believe this provides a strong platform for the business to continue developing while maintaining the service and relationships our customers have come to expect.”
EverGrowth Group
EverGrowth Group is a founder-led group that partners with and grows business-to-business essential services companies in the UK.
Founded by Chris West and Ferdie Ahmed, the group is backed by FourLeaf Capital, with senior debt provided by OakNorth Bank. Its non-executive chair is Paul Barry, founder of Phenna Group.
Chris West, co-Founder and Chief Executive of EverGrowth, said: “I grew up around my family’s waste business, so I know how much graft goes into running a yard like this. Colin and Julie run a tight, proper business that Hailsham relies on. That kind of discipline is what we want to build on across the group.”
EverGrowth is developing four divisions covering soft services, hard services, environmental services and critical services, with the ambition of becoming a nationwide total facilities management provider.
Its existing businesses include Excell Cleaning Services in London and Medway Heating in Bolton, alongside Haulaway in Hailsham.
Malcolm Coomber, Director of Deal Advisory at Affinia, said the carve-out added complexity to the transaction, requiring careful planning and coordination to separate the different parts of the business while progressing the sale.
He added: “It was a pleasure to work closely with the shareholders and their advisers throughout the process, helping them navigate the commercial, financial and structural considerations and achieve a successful outcome.
“We wish both the Haulaway team and EverGrowth Group every success for the future.”
