As part of this, the Suez leadership team cycled 330 miles over four days earlier this month from its UK head office in Maidenhead to its global HQ in La Défense Paris.
Led by John Scanlon, chief chief executive of Suez UK, the group’s initial target of raising £10,000 was increased to £15,000 and the team is proud to have already raised over £14,000 of this target.
Colleagues across the business have also been taking part in a range of fundraising events as the company is encouraging employees to “get involved” between now and the end of the year as part of efforts to raise raise £101,010 for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the ‘Big 10 and 10″.
Since the start of their partnership with Macmillan, Suez has contributed over £550,000 to fund resources such as Macmillan nurses and support centres. As part of its partnership, Suez has organised fundraising events for the charity every two years.
‘Proud’
John Scanlon, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with Macmillan. The sad reality is that many of us will be touched by cancer in some way at some point in our lives, so we’re pleased that the funds raised by Suez help Macmillan provide vital practical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer in the UK.
“Our cycle challenge to Paris is just part of this year’s overall goal for the UK business to raise £101,010 for Macmillan. Giving something back to society is part of our People, Planet, Profit ethos at SUEZ and any donations at all that people can make, regardless of size, will have a positive impact for Macmillan in their support for people battling with cancer.”
Mr Scanlon added: “Our teams have embraced our partnership with Macmillan with the same drive and passion that they give to their day jobs, continually looking for new ways to raise money and reach our increasingly ambitious fundraising targets. This year, we’re excited to rise to the challenge for the Big 10 at 10, to raise as much as possible.”
