The company said that its new name has three roots:

  • “Ecosystem” – Representing “a strong commitment in helping to protect the planet and its environmental ecosystem”.
  • “Genesis” – Signifying “the creation of fresh possibilities and innovative approaches and progress towards a circular economy with smart, efficient solutions”.
  • “System” – Standing for “the ecosystem of its services, designed to provide the complete support needed to navigate challenging compliance demands”.

Abs Bokhari, executive chairman of Ecogenesys, said: “Ecogenesys isn’t just a new name – it’s a renewed commitment to being the trusted partner for businesses looking to navigate the future of compliance with confidence.

“This new era is about delivering forward thinking, innovative solutions that support businesses on their journey towards a more sustainable and circular economy. We are excited by the opportunities it brings for our members and the industry as a whole.”

Ecogenesys said that it remains committed to supporting its UK and European scheme members with WEEE, battery and packaging compliance. The official compliance scheme name will remain as REPIC for the time being.

It will be adding new services including environmental research, carbon solutions, packaging consulting and product returns and reuse services.

Graeme Milne, chief executive of Ecogenesys, added: “Our transition to Ecogenesys comes as we increase the services we offer to our members, helping them to fulfil their evolving environmental responsibilities.

“This evolution aligns with the shifting needs of our producer members, allowing us to support them in a broader range of areas; navigating an increasingly complex sustainability landscape.”

Originally founded in 2004, the company is the largest WEEE producer compliance scheme in the UK.

The rebrand was launched to the Ecogenesys team and guests at an event held in central London yesterday (20 March 2025). Its new website and branding are now live.
