The move is the fifth US-based acquisition made in 12 months by the company via its subsidiary Lincoln Waste Solutions.

It is the third acquisition this year, joining Complete Solutions and Sourcing and Waste Focus which were announced in January.

AOWR adds over 8,000 customers to Reconomy’s US operations.

The company is headquartered in East Hartford, Connecticut, and provides waste management services in the retail, entertainment, logistics and restaurant sectors.

Jack Eighmy, president at AOWR, said: “I have been impressed by Reconomy and their clear ambition to become the leader in the US waste and resource management market.

“Joining Lincoln Waste Solutions with the backing of Reconomy positions us well to deliver even better services to our customers and provide increased opportunities for growth with our hauler partners.”

Reconomy expanding into the US

Reconomy has said it is actively expanding into the US to capitalise on the “significant opportunities” presented by the region.

The country produces 10 times more waste than the UK but has linear resource chains, low recycling rates and an over-reliance on landfill and incineration.

The serviceable US waste management market is estimated to be worth between $130 billion and $170 billion with a growth rate of between 4-6% per annum.

Lincoln Waste Solutions was acquired in August 2024 and acts as the centre of Reconomy’s US strategy. It services hundreds of major retail and Fortune 500 clients.

Guy Wakeley, CEO of Reconomy, said: “This latest acquisition is another step on our journey to attain a leading position in the US and reflects our commitment to allocate capital efficiently to where the most attractive opportunities lie.

“The strategic opportunities for growth across North America are significant. With resources being consumed faster than they can be replenished, businesses in the US are increasingly recognising the economic imperative of keeping resources in circulation and are turning to companies like ours to better manage their materials. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and to delivering value to all our stakeholders.”

Michael Williams, executive vice president of circular solutions for North America at Reconomy, said: “This is a very exciting time for our North American business as we execute on our ambitious M&A strategy at pace to rapidly scale our waste management operations through our Lincoln Waste Solutions platform.

“This latest transaction follows the acquisition of the two US brands we announced in January and strengthens our platform to drive future growth in this fast-growing, dynamic region.”
