Dorset-based AWS describes itself as a waste solutions company that offers “huge variety of services to remove all types of waste including skips of all sizes through to road sweepers and toilet hire”.
It operates in business sectors similar to those in which Telford-based Reconomy has a strong presence, including construction and housebuilding.
AWS, on its website, said that it works with 500 businesses across the UK which are checked for their performance on measures such as landfill diversion and that it “prides itself on using a carefully selected network of local, reliable and fully compliant supply chain partners”.
The move is a latest in a string of acquisitions by Reconomy which confirmed that it will be “business as usual” at RWS.
Acquisitions
In April 2019, Reconomy acquired the consultancy, waste management and compliance services firm Prismm Ltd, the fourth business acquisition announced by Reconomy in just over 12 months, following that of Waste Check, Helistrat and Valpak in 2018 (see letsrecycle.com story).
The deal with AWS went through on Monday, 28th October, when Reconomy (UK) Ltd, completed the business acquisition of the Dorset-based waste management solutions provider.
Commenting on the acquisition, Reconomy CEO, Paul Cox, said: “Reconomy and AWS share the same passion for delivering great customer service alongside a continued focus on innovation, investment in technology and extensive supply chain relationships throughout the UK.
“This acquisition is another important step in Reconomy’s journey and further strengthens our market position within our core construction-related business sectors. We are delighted to welcome the AWS team to the Reconomy Group and look forward to establishing a prosperous and longstanding working relationship together.”
AWS video
In a video (below) in 2015, Marcus Cahill, general manager at AWS, said about the company: “AWS offer waste solutions to companies nationwide, no matter what industry, type of waste or location. Furthermore we take away the bureaucracy and red-tape legislation headache that comes with waste.”
Reconomy
Based in Telford, Reconomy principally operates across four key sectors: commercial construction, housebuilding, infrastructure and business & industry.
Providing outsourced waste services for SMEs and blue-chip clients, the company handles over 100,000 waste movements every week and annually manages a reported 3 million tonnes of waste.
