Susie Burrage to continue as BMRA president
The British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) has elected Susie Burrage as its president for a third term.
Ms Burrage, who is managing director of Chesham-based Recycled Products, has already served four years at the BMRA.
She has been president through a number of “high profile projects” including the development of the first sector-sector-specific apprenticeship, the Metal Recycling General Operative.
On her reappointment, Ms Burrage said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to represent BMRA members. It is made easier when you are surrounded by good people, and I would like to thank my fellow Board members, committee members, the BMRA secretariat and my staff at Recycled Products Ltd for their support these past four years. I look forward to continuing for another term, and further extending the influence of the BMRA.”
James Kelly, chief executive of the BMRA added: “Susie’s commitment to the BMRA has been relentless. Her tireless work has meant that the BMRA continues to be at the forefront of metals recycling in the UK and on the International stage.”
Ecosurety appoints new head of operations
Recycling compliance scheme, Ecosurety, has appointed Clement Gaubert as its head of operations.
Mr Gaubert joins Ecosurety with 12 years experience in the waste management sector, eight of which were at Veolia, where he was WEEE scheme manager.
Ecosurety said that Mr Gaubert will represent the technical and procurement teams at operational board level, reporting to the CEO, James Piper.
Mr Piper said: “Clem’s extensive management experience within the waste management sector, combined with his knowledge of the WEEE and battery markets will, I’m sure, prove to be a huge asset to Ecosurety as we seek to expand further into these areas of compliance.”
Mr Gaubert added: “I am very pleased and excited to be joining such a forward-thinking producer compliance scheme which strives to go beyond basic compliance. With changes to the DTS system next year and Extended Producer Responsibility on the horizon, I look forward to engaging with our producers and recycling partners to expand our WEEE and battery collections, and to deliver innovative projects and campaigns which can have a positive impact on UK recycling.”
ESE World appoints managing director
ESE World Ltd, manufacturer for temporary storage for waste and recycling, has appointed Peter Vernon as its new managing director.
Mr Vernon previously worked for the company in 1992 when it was known as Otto UK and has since been in director and senior sales roles.
Mr Vernon joins the firm’s finance director Steven Raikes and supply chain manager Kirsten Guest to make up ESE’s new senior leadership team.
Mr Vernon said: “It feels great to be coming back full circle to ESE. The company is very much at the forefront of the industry when it comes to quality, sustainability and circular practices, and it’s upheld this title with pride since its inception over three decades ago.”
Bolton employs third generation into business
Recycling and waste management company Bolton Bros is now into its third generation as the Bolton grandchildren have started within the family business.
George, age 23, Florence, 22, and Freddie Bolton, 16, have all joined the company which was set up 51 years ago.
George aged 23 is the eldest son of Oliver Bolton, Florence is the second eldest daughter of Jodi Bolton-Smith and Freddie aged 16 is the son of Reuben Bolton. The business was set up by Michael Bolton Senior 51 years ago, now Chairman and still actively involved with the business.
Today, Bolton Brothers Ltd remains a family-run recycling business in East Anglia, employing over 50 staff at its two recycling centres in Suffolk.
Commercial director and father to Freddie, Reuben Bolton, said: “As a family, we have grown our business over the last 51 years. Family businesses are so important to the local economy and we have found that people are attracted to working with us due to the strength of culture and values that exist within our organisation. Having three generations of ‘Bolton’s’ in the business is something to be celebrated, my father would dearly love to have all 11 grandchildren involved in the business, watch this space!”
