The acquisition of the family-run company, which operates commercial food waste collections from its regional offices in Coventry, Sheffield, Manchester, Derby, Oxford and Grantham, sees Olleco strengthen its operations in England.

While the terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the acquisition will add additional capacity to Ollecos fleet of collection vehicles, specially designed to reduce emissions, which already serve customers across the UK.

Bioco has previously offered bespoke collection services for its clients, and has attained ISO9001-2000 accreditation. Under Olleco, waste will continue to be sent for anaerobic digestion or compost, with zero waste to landfill.

Adam Baisley, commercial director of Olleco, welcomed the acquisition as the base on which the company could extend its existing collection service.

He said: We are delighted to welcome Biocos customers and staff to Olleco. We aim to build on the strong foundation they have established in the Midlands and extend our reliable and award winning collection service to our new customers.

Olleco remains one of the UKs largest distributors of fresh cooking oil to the catering industry and also one of the largest collectors of used cooking oil, with 14 depots serving over 50,000 establishments.

The firm also has three bio-refineries and a Liverpool-based plant which produces biodiesel from used cooking oil.
