Global Ardour marks one year of operations
Global Ardour Recycling has marked one year of operations in the metal recycling industry.
The family-run business was acquired from the Recycling Lives’ scrap metal and car businesses by Global Metcorp and Ardour World.
The partnership purchased the assets and leases of the former operation, which it said allowed it to retain existing jobs.
Global Ardour Recycling has 10 sites across the UK and processed 500,000 tonnes of metal and 120,000 vehicles in its first 12 months.
“Our first year has been a remarkable journey of growth, collaboration, and responsibility,” said Global Ardour’s associate director, Sanjay Singhal.
“We are proud of the progress we’ve made and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the coming year. Our team, which feels like an extended family, have shown true dedication and loyalty to the business over the past 12 months and it’s to their credit that we have been able to carry forward our mission of delivering exceptional recycling solutions that benefit both the environment and the communities we serve”.
The company has surpassed its initial revenue forecasts which it said has allowed for “significant reinvestment in infrastructure and plant machinery”.
Global Ardour said that it hopes to expand in 2025 and is exploring new markets and opportunities for innovation.
Sainsbury’s to swap to paper packaging for avocados
Sainsbury’s has announced that its twin pack avocado packaging will be switched from plastic to paper.
The transition will start as a trial across 77 Sainsbury’s before being rolled out online and in all remaining stores later this year.
The packaging includes bamboo netting which is fully recycling at kerbside.
Claire Hughes, director of product and innovation said: “Switching to paper packaging across our Ripe & Ready Avocados twin pack is one of the many steps we are taking to fulfil our commitment towards a greener future. The initiative reflects our continuous efforts to help develop more sustainable and innovative packaging solutions and we’re excited for our customers to try out the new packaging in-store”.
Sainsbury’s recently launched its ‘Good to Know’ logo to help customers identify products with improved packaging or components such as those with reduced plastic packaging.
