Newport Paper reveals “ambitious” growth plans

Paper recycler Newport Paper has said it plans to significantly increase its purchasing of post-consumer newspaper and magazines this year.

The announcement came after the company appointed a new commercial director in the form of Alan Peers.

Shropshire-based Newport Paper buys recovered materials from local authorities and waste management companies. As well as recycled paper, the company does also purchase glass, cans, plastics and green waste, and offers long-term fixed-price contracts.

Since 2002, Newport has supplied paper for the Stora Enso Langerbrugge paper production plant in Belgium, one of the largest plants of its kind in the world. The contract underpins Newport's “ambitious” growth plans.

New commercial director Mr Peers, who has previously worked with Aylesford Newsprint, has had 20 years experience in the recycling and waste management industry. The company said his role as commercial director would help Newport Paper’s drive to meet ambitious growth plans through the development of mutually beneficial long-term contracts.

Matthew Hoare, managing director of Newport Paper comments: “Alan's expertise in structuring beneficial contracts for local authorities and waste management companies will help Newport Paper’s development over the next 5 years.”
