The new Volvo FM 500 6×2 tag axle tractor units were supplied by Novuna Vehicle Solutions, which the waste management service has worked with for the past seven years. The car leasing company will also be responsible for the management of LondonEnergy’s 35-strong vehicle fleet across its seven London sites.
Novuna worked in collaboration with Volvo to build and design the new units – ensuring that they were DVS compliant. Each vehicle features a lower passenger door window to enhance visibility around the cab, improving safety on London’s roads.
The trucks also feature visuals created by Effusion which demonstrate the Energy from Waste (EfW) process.
Jon Lawes, managing director at Novuna Vehicle Solutions, said: “After 18 months of planning and collaboration, handover of the Volvo tractor units represents a key milestone for LondonEnergy as they transform their fleet operation. We’ve worked closely together to develop a tailored solution that addresses their specific fleet challenges, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
“By partnering with trusted localised suppliers within our approved service network, we are also helping LondonEnergy minimise downtime, ensuring the vehicles stay on the road and continue delivering essential waste management services across London.”
The new fleet is the first phase in LondonEnergy’s fleet overhaul plan which looks to improve the efficiency of its service.
Jim Kendall, managing director at LondonEnergy, added: “Novuna Vehicle Solutions has been a key partner throughout our fleet replacement programme. Their in-depth analysis of our operations ensured that the new tractor units are perfectly suited to our fleet’s needs, improving efficiency and performance.”
