Commenting on Mr Bunnett's appointment, LondonWaste managing director David Sargent said: “His planning expertise, his knowledge of the waste industry and his experience give him the perfect background to realise new business aspirations for LondonWaste.”
On the back of three years at SITA, where he was project manager, as well as time served at Biffa Waste Services, Mr Bunnett has said he is particularly looking forward to helping LondonWaste expand the scale and scope of its recycling activities.
One major project that Mr Burnett will be involved is the proposed 'Ec;oPark' that London Waste hopes to develop at its 43-acre site in Edmonton, North London.
“I am particularly excited by the opportunity to take forward the EcoPark project,” Mr Bunnett said. “This facility will be the best of its kind in London and I am lucky to be able to pick up on the excellent work completed to date.”
Plans for the EcoPark suggest it could handle around 200,000 tonnes a year through a blend of recycling and composting with onsite reprocessing facilities for paper, plastics, batteries and fluorescent lighting (see letsrecycle.com story).
