Hampshire conference to look at ways to beat waste targets

Project Integra, Hampshire’s waste management partnership, is holding a third Open Day as part of its Beacon Council obligation to disseminate best practice in sustainable waste management at The Guildhall, Winchester, on March 7.

Called, “Beating the Waste Targets”, the organisers say the event aims to follow on from discussions at the previous two successful events, and to transfer knowledge and methods to key individuals from councils and industry, to be used as tools for the future.

The proceedings will be led by Project Integra politicians and officers, with representatives from the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP), the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) – Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA). The programme for the day includes addresses then a choice of presentations on Best Value, making business decisions, strategic partnership working, market development and the role of Politicians.

The cost will be 75+VAT per delegate, and will include refreshments and a buffet lunch during which Hampshire County Council will launch a new book, “Project Integra – A Personal History”, written by Hampshire's waste chief Bob Lisney.
