Earlier today, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reported that four crews were in attendance at the site on Lower Friarton Road and had sent out four crews.
A spokesperson said at the time: “Due to large volumes of smoke we are asking people to avoid the area and close windows and doors in nearby homes.
“The Friarton Bridge on the M90 is also closed.”
The fire service confirmed that the bridge has now been reopened.
Enva have said that the fire broke out in an exterior storage bay and that it was most likely caused by a battery.
The company added that an “immediate and thorough investigation” would be launched into the fire.
A spokesman for Enva told the BBC: “There are no injuries reported, and the site’s design and fire containment measures worked effectively, ensuring the fire did not spread to the main recycling facility or other buildings.
“The incident occurred in the reception area for inbound electrical waste and was unrelated to the site’s processing infrastructure, which was not operational at the time.”
The recycling centre, which was operated by Shore Recycling at the time, experienced a fire in February 2023 in which an employee tragically lost his life.
The site was subsequently purchased by Enva for £10 million in August 2023.
At the time, Enva said its redevelopment programme for the site would involve “attaining the highest possible recycling standards” which would include ensuring that the new facility would be accredited to the independently audited WEEELABEX standard.
Enva operates several sites across the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
