Enva wins disposal deal with Ayrshire councils

East and South Ayrshire councils have awarded Paisley-based Enva Scotland a joint contract worth £24 million to treat and dispose of residual waste from the two regions.

Enva's deal begins on 1 May and runs until 30 April 2024

The deal begins on 1 May and runs until 30 April 2024, with an option to extend it to 1 December 2024.

According to a contract award notice published on 9 April, the contract has been broken into two lots, one for each council.

A spokesperson for the councils told letsrecycle.com that Enva was “the winning tenderer after evaluation of the price and quality submission following a fully compliant procurement process.”

Barr Environmental previously treated and disposed of residual waste for the Ayrshire councils under a deal which began in May 2013 and ends as Enva’s contract begins.

Enva will send the waste to landfill in May and June, the spokesperson said, after which time the material will be turned into refuse derived fuel.

Four companies tendered for the contract, two of which were SMEs.

Letsrecycle.com contacted Enva Scotland for comment.
