Reportedly, the new plant will allow customers to utilise a “click-and-collect” service to customise the quantity of the materials they are looking to purchase rather than relying on preset quantities.
Paul Treasure, director of Earthworks, commented: “Since I started Earthworks UK, I have looked for new and different ideas, I guess as we all do but Fibo was both of those and a lot more.
“This an exciting opportunity to bring new technology to market giving both us and our customers the best solution possible. It also makes a statement about Earthworks UK’s intentions to grow and develop, that diversification will be the norm for smaller companied to survive”
The plant – acquired from Fibo Collect – will be located at the company’s Thornbury site.
Earthworks said that it aimed to address the unique needs of builders, landscapers and DIYers who need small to medium loads of concrete, mortar or screed.
Brian McCrorie, group managing director, added: “I believe that this will present a whole new way to service and supply the concrete, mortar and screed marketplace. Allowing customers to save money, less materials and less wastage which is always a good thing for the environment. It is a complete change of direction for Earthworks UK and the first large investment we have undertaken, but when people see what this has to offer it will become clear as to why.”
The new batching plant is set to be operational in early February this year.
