The company also used the anniversary as an opportunity to showcase a range of new products that will be available to the market in the coming months, many of which will be supplied exclusively to the UK market by Blue Group.
Over 1,000 guests from across the globe were invited to the site expo over two days (June 25-26) and were treated to a tour of the manufacturing and testing facilities as well as being given a history of the company – recognisable for the distinctive orange livery on its machines.
Formed in 1965, the family-owned firm began life in the farming industry, moving into organics recycling as a contractor in the early 1980s, for which it had developed its own machinery. This then led to the company branching out into supplying equipment for the wider waste, biomass and construction industries.
Since those early days, Doppstadt has evolved into one of the leading suppliers of equipment to the recycling market, operating five production sites across Germany, employing over 700 people and with a turnover of around €150 million per year.
Ferdinand Doppstadt, owner and managing director, said: “Together with our partners and customers we set new standards in the environmental technology. Quite often our solutions revolutionize the prevailing technological and ecological standards. We are proud of this. In order to continue we will extend our market and technology leadership and bring our know-how for high technology even more in line with our partners’ requirements.”
Dopp Lock
Among the innovations on display at Calbe was Doppstadt’s patented Dopp Lock system – available in its shredder range – which allows quick interchange of teeth without the need to weld inside the machine.
The teeth are screwed individually; XL teeth can be replaced with M teeth within one day. If single teeth show signs of wear they can also be replaced individually and spare part costs are reduced to a minimum.
Other new machinery on display included the DW 308 Rhino, a static slow speed shredder, replacing Doppstadt’s ‘Ceron’ series. The machine is suitable for shredding waste wood, garden, household and industrial and commercial wastes and features a powerful 450 kW AC motor.
According to Doppstadt, the Rhino stands out for its robust construction and long service life, as well as its efficient performance.
Doppstadt Systemtechnik managing director, Henning Strunz, comments: “The machine consumes less energy thanks to the direct drive with frequency-controlled alternating current motor, the hydraulically controlled shredding comb reduces wear and increases the throughput. In short: The DW 308 Rhino works more economically, more efficiently and it is even less failure-prone than its predecessors.”
Chippers
The company showcased improvements in its chipper-line, the DH Series, including the DH 910 E, the first stationary Doppstadt precision chipper. The static version offers the same specifications as Doppstadt’s most powerful chipper model the DH 910 and processes log diameters of up to 90 cm. The machine features an infeed table, a heavy chipping unit with enclosed rotor and an electric motor with control unit and regulation.
Doppstadt also presented the prototype of its compact truck-mounted DH 812 chipper. The 26-tonne machine features a Mercedes chassis with direct drive and a Palfinger crane. The DH 812 is set to enter mass production in 2016.
DG
The June Expo also gave Doppstadt an opportunity to offer a preview of its all-round high speed shredder the DG, which is due to hit the market by 2017. The 30-tonne Volvo Penta direct drive machine shreds contaminated waste wood, solid waste, green waste and biomass.
The machine has been designed with a modular configuration including three different feeding systems and four rotor types (chipping rotor, flail drum, fixed tools, size M and size S), designed for quick changeovers.
Doppstadt said: “At present the Grinder DG is still at the stage of design and testing. By 2017 we will make the product ready for the market and start the production.”
F3 Splitter
Among the ‘headline’ pieces of new machinery on display for the 50th anniversary expo was the company’s newly launched F3 Splitter – a mobile spiral shaft separator set on a tracklaying chassis.
The machine features a patented screen system which can separate difficult screenable materials including industrial waste, bulky waste and organic waste into three separate fractions.
