Following record numbers which applied and attended the 2022 awards, the ceremony will again be held in its own dedicated area at the RWM show at the NEC Birmingham on 13 September.
Sponsored by Grundon Waste Management, the awards are open exclusively to those who work in the waste, recycling, or organics industries and who are aged 34 and under this calendar year. Applications are judged retrospectively on the previous year.
The scheme provides a springboard for career progression, giving industry-wide recognition for professional competency while highlighting the passion and dedication of the industry’s trailblazers.
Entries can be made by the nominee or another on their behalf. This year, the awards would like to see a real focus on and increase in nominations for peers to recognise their hard work and dedication.
To enter, those interested should submit 250 words and any supporting material here. The deadline for entries is 23 June.
People can publicly nominate their colleagues as part of a campaign on Linkedin here.
Top three
Each year 35 under 35-year-olds are acknowledged by the scheme, with three individuals gaining “top three 35 under 35 status”.
At last year’s awards, this special accolade went to Shelley Holmes of Joint Waste Solutions, Sioned Thomas from Paper Round/ Recorra and Ben Thompson from Veolia.
The winners were presented with certificates at a ceremony at the RWM show (see letsrecycle.com story).
The full list of 35 under 35 status holders can be seen here.
