Two appointments for Powerday
London-based waste firm Powerday Plc has announced the appointment of Edward Crossan as vice-chair.
Mr Crossan has been involved in the family business since 2007 and has worked in every aspect of the business since then, most recently holding the position of development director.
Liam Kearney has also been appointed chief finance officer. Mr Kearney spent several years in professional practice and latterly in the motor trade. He is responsible for financial decision making, controls and providing strategic financial input to the Board.

Grundon recruits estates director
Waste management firm Grundon has appointed Philip Atkinson as estates director.
Mr Atkinson has joined the Oxfordshire-based firm charged with the strategic leadership, management and development of the estates, aggregates and PED (projects, engineering & design) departments.
His responsibilities include the asset management of an extensive estate, improving income generation, enhancing capital value and delivering changes to the physical estate to support the operational teams.
Mr Atkinson, who has a degree in Land Economy from the University of Aberdeen, moved from his previous role as operations director with a regional waste management company.
Mick George expands team
Peterborough-based waste firm Mick George Recycling is expanding its team with the recruitment of Dean Newton as commercial manager.
Mr Newton arrives from Ellgia Ltd with more than 25-years’ experience in the waste management sector. He is a sales and sales management professional.
According to Mick George, in his most recent position Mr Newton was responsible for managing a team of sales executives that delivered multi-million-pounds of new business during the last 12-months. Prior to this, he was group sales director for Windsor Integrated Services Group.
Skilled in delivering webinars for the British Institute of Facilities Management, Mr Newton is experienced in executing plans and discussions on recycling behaviours, market regulations and producer responsibility compliance, through to contract and operational management and sustainability.
Hat-trick of appointments for UNTHA
Industrial shredder specialist Untha UK has announced a hat-trick of appointments as the business gears up for further expansion.
Marie Dransfield joins the North Yorkshire-headquartered company as quality and environmental manager. In her career, Ms Dransfield has worked in various roles ranging from sales and customer service, to contracts and IT. As Untha UK’s standards champion, she will ensure the team upholds its approach to internal auditing, ISO certification, risk management, and compliance umbrellas.
She is joined by Gemma Beharry who is Untha UK’s new area sales manager. Ms Beharry has spent the earlier parts of her career in glass recycling, before moving on to sales positions with Biffa and Veolia. In her new role, she will work with recycling clients throughout the North of England, Scotland and Wales.
Warehouse operative Alan Ryall completes the new line up. He joins Untha UK having spent 18 years working in the food industry and will support the aftersales team with spare and wear parts enquiries, deliveries and stock-taking; the overseeing of trials at the shredder test centre; and the provision of general assistance to nationwide engineers.
