New appointments at circular software company Tegos UK

Gareth Crawshaw has been made COO of Tegos UK – a software company delivering technological solutions to the waste and recycling sector.

Crawshaw was previously the consulting manager at Tegos and has several decades of operational management experience in the UK waste sector.

Lloyd Faber

Lloyd Faber has been made the company’s new chief technology officer (CTO) and will continue his work on technology development within the company and for its clients.

Jason Fazackerley CEO of Tegos UK, said: “Our success with tegosSuite, a software-as-a-service solution based on the Microsoft platform, has allowed for this unique opportunity. Our growth in the UK and global markets has accelerated over recent years.

“I’m confident Lloyd and Gareth will continue to lead this success and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.”


FEAD members elect Herwart Wilms as president for 2026 

The European Waste Management Association (FEAD) has announced that Herwart Wilms will succeed Claudia Mensi as president of FEAD in 2026.

Wilms will bring decades of experience in the environmental and waste management sectors to the role. He was previously the managing director of REMONDIS Sustainable Services.  

He currently occupies the positions of vice president at FEAD, vice president of the BDE Federation of the German Waste, Water and Circular Economy Management Industry and chairman of the Raw Materials Committee of the BDI Federal Association of German Industry. 

Wilms said: “I am deeply honoured to serve as FEAD’s future President. As more aspects of our industry are shaped by policies conceived and adopted in Brussels, I am increasingly committed to engaging with these processes.  

“Our focus must be on demonstrating to policymakers the immense potential of our sector and the support we need to unlock it, such as the importance of fostering open markets. We all want markets that are free from restrictions and one-sided privileges, enabling fair competition to deliver the best services at reasonable prices. This mission remains at the core of my efforts.” 


Renewi appoints Kwafie Jansen as chief operating officer specialities 

Renewi has appointed Kwafie Jansen as its chief operating officer (COO) specialties.

The Specialties division focuses on streams such as electric household appliances, glass, contaminated soil and wastewater into high-quality circular materials. 

Jansen will step into the role on 20 January 2025 having most recently been the general manager of JDE Professional Netherlands, overseeing the entire Dutch business.  

Jansen said: “I am excited to join Renewi and lead the Specialities division. My professional journey has always been centred around operations and sustainability, and I am eager to contribute to Renewi’s vision of a world where waste no longer exists. I look forward to working with the talented team to achieve our ambitious goals and deliver sustainable growth for our stakeholders.”  

Otto de Bont, CEO Renewi added: “We are delighted to welcome Kwafie as our COO Specialities. Her extensive experience in both operational and strategic roles makes her well-suited to lead our Specialities division and contribute to Renewi’s commitment to delivering circular solutions.”  


Dr Nicholas Head made vice chair of Sustainable Logistics Forum 

XPO Logistics’ head of sustainability, Dr Nicholas Head, has been made the vice chair of the Sustainable Logistics Forum.

The forum represents 18 larger fleet operators and is part of the Rutland Forums which aims to facilitate collaboration groups of sustainability and energy practitioners, helping members to decarbonise their organisations quicker and more cost-effectively. 

The forums meet regularly to collaborate on projects and share best practices.  

Dr Head said: “Decarbonising the economy and transportation in a manner that is not unduly burdensome on businesses or job creation and retention is a huge challenge that requires cross-sector collaboration as never before. Having the opportunity to participate in the Sustainable Logistics Forum and help guide debate among industry peers can only benefit all involved, including providing substantial opportunities to identify initiatives that can drive that decarbonisation journey.”  


Mete Coban MBE made chair of ReLondon 

Mete Coban MBE – the current deputy mayor for environment and energy – has been made the chair of the ReLondon board.  

Coban was appointed deputy mayor in July last year and was charged with overseeing the mayor’s climate action plan.  

Coban was previously a councillor and cabinet member for climate change, environment, and transport in the London Borough of Hackney. 

ReLondon is a partnership of the Mayor of London and the London boroughs to improve waste and resource management and transform the city into a leading low carbon circular economy. 

As ReLondon chair, Coban will oversee the strategic direction and governance of the organisation and its work. His key priorities will include fostering an effective partnership between the Mayor of London, ReLondon and the London boroughs. 

Coban said: “I’m honoured to be appointed as chair of the ReLondon Board. ReLondon’s work is at the heart of delivering the mayor’s commitment to reduce waste, increase recycling, and drive the transition to a circular economy in the capital. As chair, I will lead and support ReLondon’s effort to reduce emissions and create a thriving green economy that benefits all Londoners, as we build a greener, fairer city for everyone.”
