Obituary: Tony McCluskey, Biffa Waste Services

The death has been announced of Tony McCluskey, a former senior manager of Biffa Waste Services.

Tony McCluskey who has died at the age of 92

Mr McCluskey passed away on February 15 at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford at the age of 92.

Recalling his former colleague, Richard Biffa said: “Tony joined Biffa in the 1970s from Curtis in Oxford.  At that time our collection business was struggling and barely breaking even.

“Within six months he had turned the division round and it never looked back. He was a stalwart of the industry and one of those responsible for the ongoing success of the company.”

Tony is survived by his wife Jean, his son Graeme and daughter-in-law Linda, two grandchildren Michelle and Joel, and two great grandchildren George and Oliver.  Tony and Jean would have been married 70 years this April.

‘Great motivator’

Richard Biffa reflected: “Apart from his excellent managerial skills, Tony was a great motivator and very sociable.  He was a good friend and will not be forgotten.”
