Mr Wilson said: “This will be the first such review of SEPA, and it will give us the opportunity to ensure it is equipped for its future role and is providing an efficient and effective service.”
The review will seek the views of a range of stakeholders on how effectively SEPA has performed since it was established in 1996. It will focus on how well SEPA works with government, communities and other environmental bodies responsible for environmental protection and regulation, as well as examining charges levied for its regulatory service and how the agency can be improved.
Responsible for regulating various environmental concerns from emissions to water, SEPA hit the headlines in the waste management industry earlier this year as regulator of the compliance scheme Wastepack.
